Book Review: Love...will find its way? by Ashish Ranjan

Love…will find its way?

Author: Ashish Ranjan
Publisher: Leadstart Publishers (Frog books)
Rating: 2.5/5

Summary
Love is an uncanny emotion as it is ever evolving. But lust is transient. The thin line that distinguishes love from lust is imperceptible. ‘Love…will find its way?’ is about the turbulence faced by the protagonist in deciding between love, lust and career. The plot of the story begins with innocence and later transforms into self- indulgence and greed, rather lust. The hero, Luv, has a bone to pick with his parents because of their constant badgering to score well in academics. Heedless towards the actual problems their child is facing, the parents keep on pressurizing Luv. Failing to prove himself to his parents, failing in the matter of love and failing in whatever he does, Luv finds himself between the devil and the deep blue sea. Should he put an end to his life and ease all the pain or should he retreat and fight back with new energy? Will his love return to him at any point of time? Will his parents ever understand his needs?

My opinion
‘Love… will find its way’ is a simple read. The plot of the story is predictable and is not new to the readers. The narration is lucid and easy to comprehend. The dialog delivery is fine. The cover of the book is apt but the title is grammatically incorrect. Perhaps inversion of words does not enhance the meaning of the title. The character sketches have been done perfectly but the sequence of the entry of the characters is ambiguous.

The ‘sexual’ element has been stretched way too much in the book. And this is the reason I did not find it interesting. The story begins with the protagonist describing his first crust when he was in UKG and the journey continues till the narrator reaches class 12th. The flow of the story is fine but the events are not that catchy.

The proofreading has been done minutely and very rarely can one spot errors in the sentence formation/ question formation (like in the title itself).

Overall, a week plot and humdrum climax.

Best wishes to the author!

Book Review: Travels of my dogs by Parry

Travels of my dogs

Author: Parry
Genre: Pictorial biography
Publishers: Cyberwit.net

“Dogs are our link to paradise. They don't know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring--it was peace.”
― Milan Kundera

‘Travels of my dogs’ is a wonderful dedication to all the dog lovers indeed. The author’s unequivocal love for his dog, Ginger, has been portrayed beautifully. The book is divided into many components like biography, memoirs, poems, elegy, pictures and some facts. The news report about the conduct of dogs and their relationship with humans, take the wheels of this book forward. The author then describes about the sequence of events that led to the entry of Ginger in his family.

The positive thing about this book is that it belongs to a completely different category of biographical literature. Seldom does anybody chose an animal or an object as the central theme of a book. The book is a quick read and is interesting. The language used, is very simple and touches one’s heart. The content forces the readers to relate it with their own experiences and understand the intensity of emotional turmoil the author would have gone through when he had lost his beloved pet.

The rhyme scheme followed in all the poems and elegies is ABBC. The text has been kept to the point. But the only thing that was probably not required to be included was the certificates and the Doctor’s prescriptions. The cover of the book could have been made better and more attractive.

Overall, a nice book with a subtle and unique theme.

“There is little bit of paradise built into every day. You just have to find it.”

I am no artist or painter or sketching-lover. But yes, I love to swirl my pen on the unwrinkled, creamy pages of my notebook. It was sometime in 2012-2013, during the last year of my post-graduation, when my instinct for surviving the boring lectures of Nano biotechnology, Microarray Techonology and Technical writing surfaced.

Here are some samples (wink):
